Chasedown Bloodhounds were founded with the first litter from Ch. Abingerwood Wedding Bells, at almost three years of age in January 1970.   The sire of this litter was Barsheen Dugald, and almost a year later, this foundation bitch had a litter by Ch. Barsheen Black Pirate.
There have now been seventeen Chasedown litters with almost one hundred Chasedown puppies registered at the Kennel Club.       (For the latest Click Here).

Elin and David pride themselves in their contributions to the breed,
in Britain and internationally.
They first became enthusiasts of the dual purpose aspects of the bloodhound in the sixties.
After being the Working Trials Secretary, David became Chairman of the Bloodhound Club, and retains a pivotal role in the organisation of their trials.
Between 1983 and 1985 Elin was the Secretary of the Bloodhound Club, after writing the breed notes column of Dog World for many years.
Although Elin has judged KC trials for many years, including the Higher / Special Stakes, she has left David to keep up with their hounds in the field.
(Elin's personal successes have come at handling their hounds in the show ring.)
Besides being influencial in Kennel Club bloodhound circles, in 1993 they allowed their hound Hoover, to sire a litter of a local Clean Boot pack; the "R" litter of The Coakham Bloodhounds.   This was so successful, that he went on to sire two further Coakham litters.
In 1994, Hoover became the first Kennel Club Dual Champion bloodhound for forty years; Ch. & WTCh. Chasedown Virtuous.   Hoover was the only dog of his litter, and he had only one sister, Vespers.   Both were kept by Elin & David, and won Senior and Special Stakes at KC trials.     (For more on their achievements, left click here).
History of The Chasedown Litters
Over the coming months this page will link to a pictorial catalogue of litters which lie behind the current Chasedown pedigrees.   We would welcome any photos you wish to contribute.
Although we don't currently have a photo from the first litter, we can show you one from the second; Ch. Chasedown Descant, who went on to the Senior Stake at KC trials.
By the early 1980s, deep red hounds became the speciality, as can be seen from the photo of Ch. Chasedown Faithful.
In 1989, the line was enriched by a Swiss import carrying the United States Champion The Rectory's Bishop. This litter provided the Ch. & WTCh. Chasedown Virtuous. This line has been reinforced in recent litters, with blood from Ch. Ninevah's Miracle of Brighton.
